Some farmers rescued a 16-year-old girl from two youths who had allegedly abducted the girl from a rural bus stop and were trying to rape her near a canal bridge in Hanumangarh today. However, the accused fled the spot.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the girl was waiting for a bus to reach Nohar where she studies in a senior secondary school. Two youths on a motorcycle allegedly abducted her by putting a blanket on her face.

The miscreants halted the bike near the canal bridge and attempted to rape her. The girl strongly resisted and cried for help, following which farmers saved her.

A case under Sections 376, 511 and 365 of the IPC has been registered against Ravi Meghwal and Vijay Sansi on the statement of the victim’s father.
