Tension over control of gurdwara

MUKTSAR: Tension prevailed in Gurusar village in Gidderbaha sub-division once again over the control of a gurdwara on Sunday.

Muktsar, August 25

Tension prevailed in Gurusar village in Gidderbaha sub-division once again over the control of a gurdwara on Sunday. A large number of residents, including women, went to meet the present caretaker of gurdwara, Baba Jassa Singh of Budha Dal, to request him to handover the the shrine to Baba Gokul Singh, whose father Baba Satnam Singh was its caretaker earlier. However, the ‘nihangs’ allegedly forced them out of the shrine.

Baba Gokul Singh, who has four kids, is not financially sound. Thus we had gone to request the present management of the gurdwara to appoint him the new caretaker, but the nihangs of the other faction got infuriated over it.”

Notably, the gurdwara and the 43-acre agricultural land are the bones of contention between two factions of the Budha Dal. One of the factions is headed by Baba Satnam Singh and the other by Baba Balbir Singh 96 Crori, whose aide Baba Jassa Singh is presently looking after the gurdwara. — TNS
