The AAP MLA and Leader of Opposition HS Phoolka today demanded that the state should focus on improving the education system in light of the poor results of Class XII exams by the PSEB.

He also demanded the resignation of Cabinet Minister and local MP Harsimrat Badal over the zero per cent result of one school in Bathinda.

Phoolka appealed the CM and Education Minister to visit such schools and review the reasons behind the poor results.

He said he was visiting such schools and ascertaining reasons behind this.

In the government school in Jassowal village in Ludhiana only four students out of 82 have passed, in Ghal Kalan in Moga only two students out of 53 have passed, in Ghal Khurd only one student has passed out of 23 and in Banur only five students have passed out of 68 in the government school.

Then there was Ganga Ablu village in Bathinda district where all seven students have failed. A majority were poor Dalit girls who did not even have the money to get their answer sheets rechecked by paying a fee of Rs 420 and Rs 100 for the cyber café facilities, he added.

Phoolka also visited Government Senior Secondary Schools at Gholia Kalan, Gholia Khurd and Bhalur villages (all in Moga district), which recorded a pass percentage of less than 10 in the Class XII exams of the Punjab School Education Board. He was accompanied by AAP MLA Manjit Singh Bilaspur.

Bilaspur said out of 53 students in the Gholia Kalan school, only two had passed, while one student had made it out of 23 in the Gholia Khurd school.
