CWC asks P.M. and Cong chief to sort out issues

NEW DELHI, July 21 (PTI)—The crisis in the Congress party appeared to have ended tonight when the working committee, contrary to expectations of a showdown, coolly asked Mr. S. Nijalingappa and Mrs. Indira Gandhi to discuss issues which threatened unity in the party. This formula was devised to pave the way for a free and frank dialogue between party leaders. Many had been feeling its need specially after the meeting of the parliamentary board at Bangalore. The suggestion came from Mr. Y.B. Chavan, who had been playing the role of a mediator between Mrs. Gandhi and the former Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Morarji Desai. Mr. Chavan who spoke at an early stage of the 90-minute meeting felt that the party could solve the crisis facing it as it had in the past. But it could not be done at a large meeting like that of the working committee.
