Dal Khalsa leader Kanwar Pal Singh has condemned Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh over his recent remarks while terming him as the “new pawn in the hands of the forces who want to scuttle the Kartarpur Sahib corridor project and create fissures among the Sikhs”.

Speaking on the sidelines of a march taken out to mark the International Human Rights Day here on Monday, Kanwar Pal Singh said, “Captain’s outburst on Kartarpur corridor issue is purely out of egoistical reasons as he can’t digest the appreciation of Navjot Singh Sidhu, who had refused to accept him as his Capitan.”

He said the parties vying for political power namely AAP, SAD and Congress had no human rights agenda.

Flaying the Badals, he said, “After undermining the supremacy of the Akal Takht and doing enough damage to Sikh institutions, the Badals are enacting drama at Darbar Sahib to seek forgiveness for their sins. They have fallen from grace as the list and nature of their sins is too long and grave that stands unpardonable.”

He said the Badals should quit politics. Earlier, the Dal Khalsa held a march to seek justice for the victims of the alleged police firing at Gurdaspur in 2009 and Behbal Kalan in 2015, apart from the children who are waiting for their parents who have disappeared or faced custodial deaths in 80s and 90s.

As per a release issued here, the march led by Dal Khalsa reminded society about the pain and suffering of the Sikh conflict that remains unattended to.

The Dal Khalsa and its allied groups Malwa Youth Federation and Sikh Youth of Punjab marched on the streets to provide some succour to the victims’ parents and families.

Leaders of these outfits hit out at the Modi dispensation over the increased incidents of mob lynching in Hindi heartland.

“For the oppressed people who are struggling for their rights, all declarations of the United Nations are hollow and meaningless,” said Dal Khalsa chief advocate Harpal Singh Cheema.

From Punjab to Kashmir to Central India, “dissent is being caged and dissenting people’s rights trampled”, said party general secretary Paramjit Singh Tanda.

Social activist Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha Sidhana addressed the gathering at Dr Ambedkar Park.
