Murder case solved, one arrested

BARNALA: The Barnala police claimed to have cracked the murder case of Raj Rani (84), who was found murdered on August 6 in her house in Bhadaur and arrested one person.

The Barnala police claimed to have cracked the murder case of Raj Rani (84), who was found murdered on August 6 in her house in Bhadaur and arrested one person.

“Our police team has arrested Yogesh Kumar, a resident of Bhadaur, who murdered her as she was demanding her money back from Yogesh. Our police team has recovered gold ornaments stolen after getting information from Yogesh,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Harjeet Singh.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Tapa, Tejinder Singh informed that the accused had taken a loan of around Rs 50,000 from the victim and was known to her.

On August 6, a 84-year-old woman was found murdered in Bhadaur town of Barnala district. The police had registered a murder case against unidentified persons and started further investigation.

Raj Rani was staying alone in the Dhudia da wada area of Bhadaur and she used to sit at the gate of her house in the morning and evening. But on August 6 when she did not sit on the gate of her house, neighbours knocked at her door, but she did not respond and when neighbours broke the gate, they found her murdered.

She was staying alone as her two sons were settled in New Delhi while another was living separately in Bhadaur and her husband died some years back. The accused had hit her on the head with a sharp-edged weapon after tying her hands and feet. Some gold is also missing.

Accused was demanding money from victim

  • SSP Harjeet Singh said the police team has arrested Yogesh Kumar, a resident of Bhadaur, who murdered her as she was demanding her money back from Yogesh. “Our police team has recovered gold ornaments stolen after getting information from Yogesh,” said SSP Harjeet Singh.
