Six arrested for oil pilferage from refinery tankers

BATHINDA: Oil pilferage from tankers coming from Guru Gobind Singh Refinery is going on unabated as the police have arrested six drivers who were taking out oil worth Rs 8 lakh from oil tankers at Phulokheri and Ramsara in the district.

Oil pilferage from tankers coming from Guru Gobind Singh Refinery is going on unabated as the police have arrested six drivers who were taking out oil worth Rs 8 lakh from oil tankers at Phulokheri and Ramsara in the district.

In a complaint lodged by Arvind Kumar, deputy general manager and head of security at the refinery, it has been stated that accused truck drivers Babu Lal, Bala Ram, Jagdish Prasad, Sarban Singh, Sohan Singh and Babu Singh have stolen oil worth Rs 8.06 lakh from oil tankers.

The police have registered a case against the accused under Section 379 of the IPC at the Rama police station.

Last month, the police had arrested seven persons on the charge of stealing bitumen from tankers of Guru Gobind Singh Refinery at Rama Mandi here.

In the first case, the police arrested three persons and seized 25 tonnes of bitumen worth Rs 9 lakh at Guthari village.

Those arrested were identified as Rakesh Kumar and Sham Lal of Haryana and Ravinder Singh of Uttar Pradesh.

In the second case, the police arrested four persons and seized 250 quintals of bitumen along with Rs 2.72 lakh in cash at Talwandi Sabo.

The accused were identified as Sunil Kumar of Karnal, Rajesh Kumar and Kamal of Rajasthan and Sukhwinder Singh of Haryana.
