Drug peddler arrested with 27-gm heroin

Sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF), Mohali, arrested a drug peddler with 27 gm of heroin here.

The suspect has been identified as Avtar Singh, alias, Jagtar Singh, alias Jagga, a resident of Manakpur Sharif village in Mohali district.

Giving information, Superintendent of Police (STF) Rajinder Singh Sohal said Jagga was going towards the Banur side from Kharar on a motorcycle. He was arrested near TDI City along the Airport road.

“He was going to Banur to supply drugs to his regular customers,” said SP Sohal.

He said during interrogation, it came out that Jagga was already booked in another case under the NDPS Act at the Kurali police station.

“In that case, he was awarded 10-year sentence by the Sessions Court. He was also booked in a case of heroin smuggling at the STF police station in Mohali. “At present, he was out on bail,” said Sohal.

Now, a fresh case under Sections 21, 31, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against Jagga at the STF police station in Phase 4 here.
