A 17-year-old boy was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a rashly driven tipper on the Barwala-Moli road this morning. The deceased has been identified as Gaurav, a resident of Batod village.
The police said Gaurav had gone to refill his bike with fuel at a petrol pump located on the Barwala-Moli road this morning when a rashly driven tipper hit his bike, resulting in serious injuries.
Passersby informed the police, who immediately reached the spot. Gaurav was taken to the Civil Hospital here where doctors declared him brought dead.
The police have registered a case against the unidentified tipper driver who fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind. The police have seized the tipper and launched a manhunt to nab the driver.
Bhupinder Singh, father of the victim, said Gaurav was the only son in the family. He was a student of Class XII at Senior Secondary School in Barwala. Laxman Dass, sarpanch of Batod village, and other panchayat members had expressed grief over the demise of the boy.
