Eight professionals from different fields were honoured for their outstanding work by the First Friday Forum in an symposium on the topic, “Architecture and Poetry—Symbiosis for Holistic Creativity”, at the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh, on Saturday.
Dr SS Bhatti, founder of the forum gave away the awards. Those honoured were Paritosh Kumar (architecture), Prof AK Agarwal (mathematics), Prof Aradhna Jindal (architectural education), Sarbjit Bahga (architecture and journalism) and Raman Bhardwaj (versatile creativity). HS Johl was honoured with the lifetime achievement award for landscaping and beautification of the built environment, Dr HK Lall with the Master Urdu Poet Rishi Patialvi Memorial Award and Ashima Raizada with the First Friday Forum Rising Star Award for giving up BTech degree to pursue art.
Paritosh Kumar, president, PK Architecture, USA, was the chief guest. He lauded the forum’s persistent role in educating the citizenry about a host of problems facing the city. He made a thought-provoking presentation on architecture in America and showed a variety of excellent projects done by his firm.
