A Meeting of PFUCTO Executive was held today at PAU, Ludhiana.
Representatives from Panjab University Teachers' Association (PUTA), Chandigarh; PUTA, Patiala; Teachers’ Association, GNDU, Amritsar; PCCTU, GCTA, PAUTA and Teachers’ Association GADVASU, Ludhiana, attended the meeting.
Various issues were discussed at the meeting, including the non-implementation of 7th Pay Commission; National Education Policy; revival of old pension scheme; pending cases of CAS promotion, regularisation of teachers and funding of higher educational institutions.
Members expressed their concern about the lack of implementation of 7th Pay Commission by the Punjab Government. It was observed that 7th Pay Commission has been implemented in all states except Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Manipur.
In order to press upon the Punjab Government for early implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, it was unanimously decided that in response to the call by the AIFUCTO (All-India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations) a State level Protest Rally shall be held on 22nd November 2019 at PU campus, Chandigarh, where all the constituents of PFUCTO shall participate.
Commenting on the issue, Prof Rajesh Gill, president of the Panjab University Teachers' Association, made an appeal to all her colleagues to come forward and participate enthusiastically in the state-level protest rally to make it a success.
“We shall also be taking up the issues of revival of old pension scheme, national education policy and removal of ambiguities in 2018 UGC Regulations on CAS, in addition to the immediate implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in the rally,” she said.
