The guns recovered from Dilpreet Singh Baba after he was nabbed by joint teams of the Punjab and Chandigarh police were provided to him by his accomplice Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, a gangster who is also wanted by the police in several cases. Rinda was also involved in the sarpanch murder case in Sector 38, Chandigarh.

Dilpreet was nabbed on July 9 from outside the ISBT, Sector 43. The police had recovered a .30-bore pistol, a .30-bore rifle and around 60 live cartridges of different weapons.

Dilpreet revealed that Rinda supplied him weapons and cartridges. Rinda is wanted by the police in the sarpanch murder case and for opening fire on a leader of SOI at the PU in April 2016.

Police investigation has revealed that Rinda used to meet him outside the ISBT. Rinda never used to come by car and used public transport to avoid getting identified. Dilpreet used to meet drug peddlers outside the bus stand only.

Didn’t make threat call: Dilpreet

Dilpreet denied having made any threat call to eliminate four persons at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. A call was received at the Police Control Room from a man claiming to be Dilpreet Singh on April 22 this year. Later, an auto driver from whose mobile the call was made was rounded up. He had stated that someone had borrowed his mobile phone at the ISBT, Sector 43, to make a call.

Brushes aside cop’s claims

Brushing aside claims made by a Punjab Police Inspector that he saw Dilpreet and Rinda having food at a food joint at the ISBT, Sector 43, Dilpreet claimed that he never used to step out of the car whenever he visited the ISBT. Dilpreet claimed that he used to pick the person from the ISBT, drive around and later drop him outside the ISBT.
