Chandigarh: Two burglary incidents have been reported from the city. Yogeshwar of Sector 41 reported that jewellery, a mobile phone and a purse containing Rs1.20 lakh were stolen from his house on September 2. A case has been registered. In another case, complainant Mudit Gupta of Sector 18 reported that Rs9.5 lakh was stolen from his house between August 31 and September 2. TNS

UT constable suspended

Chandigarh: A day after the Mohali police arrested a UT constable for allegedly firing a shot at Shivalik Vihar in Nayagaon, the UT police suspended him and initiated a regular departmental inquiry against him. The police said Constable Sikander, who was posted in the security wing, was found absent from duty. Sikander had fired a shot at his brother-in-law’s car and had smashed its windowpanes. TNS

BJP leader’s brother threatened

Chandigarh: Unknown persons have been booked on a complaint of a BJP leader for threatening his brother outside their residence. Complainant Rambir Bhatti, state general secretary of the BJP, reported that three unknown persons threatened his brother Jasvir Singh on August 21 outside his house at Raipur Kalan. TNS

Sector 9 Club found violating DM’s order

Chandigarh: The owners of Cow Boy Club, Sector 9, were arrested for opening the club beyond the permissible time limit on the intervening night of September 1 and 2. A case was registered against the owners — Manvir Singh and Arush Sharma. Cops also found 77 bottles of whisky and scotch following which a case under the Excise Act was registered against the manager, Mitlesh. All suspects were released on bail. TNS

2 eunuchs held for snatching

Mohali: The police have arrested two eunuchs for snatching and robbery while impersonating as girls on the Airport road. The suspects have been identified as Nikki, a native of Sirmaur, and Soniya, a resident of Kharar. The police had laid a trap and nabbed them with marked currency. A case has been registered at Sohana police station. TNS

Car driver flees fuel station without paying bill

Mohali: A car driver fled the filling station without paying after getting the tank topped up at Saneta village on Thursday. On a complaint of the filling station owner, Rajesh Kaundal, the police have registered a case. The complainant said the car driver fled towards Banur side without paying the bill for Rs4,878. The police are scanning CCTV footage of cameras installed in the area. — TNS
