UP man held with fake currency in Mohali

Notes in denomination of Rs2,000, Rs500, Rs200 and Rs100 seized



Mohali, November 22

The police arrested a person and seized fake currency notes amounting to Rs 69,500 and a high-resolution printer from a PG in Balongi. The police seized currency notes in the denomination of Rs2,000, Rs500, Rs200 and Rs100.

Hisar native booked too

The suspect Nawab, alias Feroze, a native of Moradabad, UP, was booked under Sections 489-A, B, C and D at the Balongi police station. One more suspect, Vijender, a native of Hisar, has also been booked in the case.

The police said Nawab, a caretaker of a PG, used to print fake currency. He had learnt to print fake currency from his roommate, a native of Hisar, who later left the place. Nawab used his printer and bought paper to print fake currency. “The PG owner had notified the caretaker to the police, but his antecedents were yet to be verified, said Balongi SHO Rajpal Singh. — TNS
