Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has expressed his displeasure over the “mishappenings” with the Sikh community across the world.

A Sikh wrestler had to drop out from an international competition in Turkey as he was asked to remove his turban. The Jathedar also expressed worries over racial attack on an elderly Sikh in the USA.

Citing incidents within the country, such as one in Rajasthan where Sikh students were asked to remove kara at an exam, and displacement from Shillong, he said these call for an attention towards the Sikhs’ safety.

“These incidents raise questions on security and safety of the community in the country. It becomes important that Sikhs come together at this difficult hour and propagates Sikh values and ethos of Sikhism,” he said.
