Cong leader, son, driver booked under Arms Act

The police have booked former chairman of Confed and Haryana Vyapar Mandal president Bajrang Dass Garg and his son Akhil Garg, along with their driver Vikas under the Arms Act.

According to the information, the Police Commissioner Hisar Range had sent an email to the Panchkula police after which a case was registered against the accused. 

The Hisar police have booked Vikas, a resident of Agroha, and his maternal uncle Vijender, for uploading his photo with.12 bore gun on social media. 

The Police Commissioner wrote an email to the Hisar Deputy Commissioner for taking action against Bajrang Dass and his son Akhil. The email stated that the two had kept weapons in an irresponsible way. 

It is pertinent to mention that Bajrang Dass is a senior Congress leader and has been campaigning for the party candidate Kumari Selja in the Ambala constituency.

The investigation revealed that Bajrang Dass and his son had kept two .32 bore revolvers on the bed along with cartridges after cleaning the weapons. 

Vikas took selfies with revolvers and uploaded the same on social media. In the second incident, Vikas took a picture with dummy AK-47 rifle in the office of Bajrang Dass’s friend Mohinder Singh. He also took a photograph with revolver of Bajrang Dass when the latter went to washroom.

Mohinder Singh in his statement to the police stated that he had purchased the dummy AK-47 rifle from Vishal Gun House located in Sector 40, Chandigarh, for Rs 25,000 in 2017. 

Harbans Lal, manager, Vishal Gun House, told the police that it was a dummy AK-47 rifle and was sold on the basis of the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Bajrang Dass said he and Akhil have nothing to do with the case. He added that Vikas has accepted his fault in writing. 

He said Vikas had taken selfies with the revolvers which were kept on the bed. He (Vikas) took selfies without informing us, said Bajrang Dass. He accused the police of unnecessarily harassing him and his son.

The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 25 (1B), (A), 29 (B) 54, 59 of the Arms Act at Sector 5 police station.
