Swachhta thrown to the winds

Someone has deposited debris outside the Civil Dispensary in Sector 8, Panchkula, not caring for cleanliness and the inconvenience caused to area residents due to it. The local civic body should identify the erring persons and take exemplary action against them.

Fix signboards at City Forest

City Forest near Sukhna Lake is a wonderful place for nature lovers. Residents and tourists can often be seen enjoying strolls here. Recently, I, along with my wife, went there. At several points, the

path separates into two. In the absence of proper signboards, people may take a wrong turn, leading to an unknown destination and wasting people’s time. This is what happened with us. So, fix signboards at suitable places.

Durga Nursery neglected

About a decade ago, when nobody had heard about the concepts like Smart City or Swachh Bharat, Durga Nursery, opposite Kalagram, used to emit pleasing fragrance as it had green plants and several varieties of flower. It was rightly considered as the pride of the City Beautiful. In contrary, bad days have befallen the place. Instead of sweet fragrance, stench greets visitors here due to heaps of garbage.

Avoid unnecessary pruning

The City Beautiful is known for its greenery but unnecessary pruning of trees paints an ugly picture of the city. It has rendered several trees shapeless. Pruning needs to be done only once a year. The MC needs to have a second thought, otherwise, the beauty of the city would vanish.

Needless splurge on effigy

As reported in Chandigarh Tribune (October 5), a huge 210 feet effigy of Ravana is being made at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. On the day of the festival, it will be reduced to ashes. It would have been better had the money been donated to the Kerala flood relief fund.

Slow road repair work

I want to draw attention towards the apathy of the UT Administration. The road leading to the sector from the 32/33 roundabout had caved-in after incessant rain on September 25. Almost two weeks have passed but the road is still closed and the work is progressing at a snails pace. Due to it, traffic snarls are witnessed. I wish the Administration expedites the work in view of the difficulties faced by the common people.

Ensure safety of students

Drivers of school buses indulge in speeding in the morning hours due to the absence of traffic cops. Special nakas should be set up to check the violation for the safety of schoolchildren.

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
