Chandigarh, April 19

A day after a theft was reported at a NRI’s house in Sector 27 here, the UT police arrested the suspect while riding a stolen Activa scooter.

The complainant, Anuwant Pahwa, a resident of Sector 27, had reported to the police that an unknown person entered his house on the intervening night of April 16 and 17 and stole two iPhones and the key of an Audi car. A case in this regard was registered at the Sector 26 police station.

The police said on April 18, a team of the Mauli Jagran police station nabbed the suspect, Komila (19), a resident of Sector 26, while riding a stolen Activa scooter bearing a fake number. The police registered a case against him at the Mauli Jagran police station.

During interrogation of the suspect, the police found that he, along with his accomplice, had also committed a theft in Sector 27.

“We recovered the stolen mobile phones from him,” said a police official. The police said the suspect had a criminal past.

He had three cases, including two of theft, registered against him in Chandigarh.
