Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today laid foundation stones and inaugurated 93 projects worth Rs 328.87 crore for Karnal district and 26 projects worth Rs 152 crore for Kaithal district through video conferencing from Chandigarh. Karnal MP Sanjay Bhatia simultaneously chaired the programme at the Karnal mini-secretariat while Haryana Minister of State Kamlesh Dhanda chaired the programme in Kaithal.

Urban upgrade

  • The two flyovers will be constructed on 99 pillars
  • The project aims at reducing traffic congestion and improving urban infrastructure
  • It is slated to be constructed in 18 months

Works inaugurated, initiated

In Karnal, 22 projects were inaugurated and foundation stones of 71 projects were laid. These include two projects under the Smart City initiative worth Rs 135.92 crore, one project of the Higher Education Department worth Rs 15 crore, one project of the Energy Department worth Rs 3.86 crore, 20 projects of Panchayat Department worth Rs 16.31 crore and 68 projects worth Rs 144.05 crore of Public Works Department.

One of the major projects among them is the construction of two elevated flyovers, which will be constructed on 99 pillars. It is slated to be constructed in 18 months at an estimated cost of Rs 127.33 crore.

The elevated corridor, using single-pillar technology, would be constructed in two parts. One part, consisting of two lanes with a carriage width of 3.5 m each, will stretch between Haryana Nursing Home and Government College for Women on the railway road, covering a length of approximately 2.38 km. The second part, spanning a length of 980 km, will connect Committee Chowk and Ambedkar Chowk with an intersection at Committee Chowk.
