Panipat, February 11

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) will approach senior Delhi Police officers to search for the farmers missing after the Delhi violence on January 26. The SKM has finalised a list of 13 persons missing since the incident.

As per the list finalised by the legal committee of the SKM, eight farmers are from Punjab, four from Haryana and one from Rajasthan. The SKM has formed a five-member legal committee to identify and trace the persons missing.

The committee members — Prem Singh Bhangu, Rajinder Singh Deepsinghwala, Avtar Singh, Kiranjeet Singh Sekhon and IT cell in-charge Baljeet Singh — have established a legal help desk at the Delhi borders to collect information about the persons missing.

“We have collected information that around 115 persons had been arrested and prepared a list of 13 persons who were missing after the incident,” said Deepsinghwala, vice-president, Kirti Kisan Union, Punjab.

He said earlier, people had sent names of persons missing before the incident and of some mentally challenged persons, but the final list had now been prepared.

“We will meet senior Delhi Police officers in connection with the missing persons. If we do not get any clue, we will file a habeas corpus petition in the apex court,” he maintained.

“We have been in regular contact with the family members of the missing farmers and have also tried to search for them,” he added. Meanwhile, thousands of farmers continued their protest against the three farm laws on the 79th day.
