Hisar, August 27
The incidents of theft in local markets have led to resentment among traders, who have threatened to launch an agitation against the “failure” of the police to arrest thieves.
The traders led by the Haryana Baopar Mandal said they would convene a meeting to chalk the plan of action to curb the incidents of theft.
In all, 18 incidents of theft took place in about a month, though the police claimed to be on night patrol across the town.
Shops in Nagori Gate market, Moti Bazaar market and Cut piece market had been targeted, said Haryana Baopar Mandal president Bajrang Dass Garg.
He added, “Several associations of traders have join hands on the issue. They have urged the police to increase the night vigil in markets.”
Police spokesperson Harish Bhardwaj said, “Three persons have been detained. They have confessed to their involvement in about 20 theft incidents in Hisar and adjoining towns.”
