In a shocking incident, three policemen from Bahadurgarh Special Task Force (STF) of the Haryana Police allegedly kidnapped a businessman from west Delhi at gunpoint and released him after receiving extortion money of Rs 19 lakh.

The policemen assistant-sub inspector (ASI) Sandeep, ASI Lokesh and Constable Pramod have been suspended after preliminary inquiries by the state police confirmed their role in the abduction and kidnapping, said B Satheesh Balan, DIG, SFT, Bhondsi.

Balan said the STF had received information in this regard and during a preliminary inquiry all the three policemen were found guilty of abduction and extortion.

What was even more shocking was the fact that those who did this all were members of the SFT, a special force of the Haryana Police constituted recently to check organised crimes in the national capital region (NCR)

The incident occurred on October 31 when the businessman was abducted from Ranjit Nagar at gunpoint by Bahadurgarh STF of the Haryana Police.

Later, the policemen released him in Rohini area after he was made to cough out Rs 19 lakh.

The businessman approached a Delhi court when even the Delhi police allegedly refused to register his complaint.

The act of the STF cops was caught in CCTV cameras. In the CCTV footage of the incident, the businessman can be clearly seen being taken away by gun-toting policemen in plain clothes.

Haryana Director General of Police BS Sandhu said that immediately after receiving a complaint he ordered an inquiry by Balan and action has been initiated against the guilty.
