MDU VC to address freshers

Rohtak: Vice Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Prof Rajbir Singh will address the newly admitted students of MPhil and PhD (2020-2021) on February 8 in an induction programme. It will be organised by Ch Ranbir Singh Institute of Social and Economic Change of the university. The VC said that he intends to hold a dialogue with the faculty members, research scholars and students to take their feedback for preparing a futuristic roadmap of the university. He said concerted efforts would be made to boost the NIRF ranking and NAAC grading of the MDU in times to come.

Police cadets project in 225 schools

Karnal: Rajshri Singh, IG, Traffic and Highways, Haryana, said they had started Students’ Police Cadets Core in 225 schools of the state. As many as 9,865 students of Classes VIII and IX are being trained for good behaviour, fight against social evils, safety and security of women and children and raising voice against corruption. A certificate is given to cadets by the SP concerned for completing a two-year course, while B certificate will be provided by the IG concerned to the cadets for completing a three-year course. These certificates would be beneficial in getting job, passport and driving licence, she added.

CDLU gets academic membership

Sirsa: Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, got the academic membership of the Life Science Sector Skill Development Council, which has been working under the ages of the Central Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The council has been established under the scheme of skill india development. Disclosing this here on Tuesday, dean, faculty of life sciences, CDLU, Prof Priyanka Siwach said the university had received a certificate from the council regarding the active membership for a period of three years. VC Prof Ajmer Singh Malik said he hoped that the membership would generate the scope of new employment avenues for the students of life science Faculty. Event the department of biotechnology, food science and technology, energy and environment science, botany and zoology will be benefitted and provided online and offline short-term courses.

10 meritorious girls awarded Rs25K

Karnal: Ten girl students of Tagore Baal Niketan Senior Secondary School were awarded Rs 25,000 each by ND Mehra Memorial Trust, Delhi, on the 18th death anniversary of astronaut Kalpana Chalwa. The trust had started this award in the memory of Kalpana Chawla by giving Rs 11,000 to one girl student. Later, two awards of Rs 15,000 each were given to two students. Now, it has been giving Rs 25,000 each to 10 meritorious girl students, said Dr Rajan Lamba, school principal. Those awarded include Tamanna, Nidhi, Jesmeen, Ishika Bansal, Harsha, Tanishka, Ridham, Anshdha Padhi, Pavni and Jesmeen.
