Scores of anganwari workers under the banner of the Anganwari Workers and Helpers Union today held a protest carrying begging bowls on the roads of the city.
They were demanding regularisation of their services, minimum monthly salary of Rs 18,000, equal work-equal salary, Rs 1,500 for uniform and fulfillment of other demands. They have been staging a dharna outside of the mini-secretariat daily for the last several days.
Rupa Rana, district president of the union, said that the government has failed to fulfil its promises made during the Assembly elections. “Anganwari workers and helpers have been staging dharnas across the state but Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Cabinet minister Kavita Jain have been a mute spectator. We will continue with our protest till our demands are fulfilled,” she added.
