Chandigarh, July 20
Haryana Roadways workers are gearing up for another showdown with the state government, with the former announcing a “chakka jam” on August 7.
The Haryana Roadways Joint Action Committee is up in arms against the government’s plan to add 700 private buses to the roadways’ fleet.
The transport unions had met Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar on July 18. The meeting, however, remained inconclusive with the state government and the unions sticking to their stands.
The unions are demanding a curb on introducing private buses in Haryana, as they say this would result in the emergence of the transport mafia on the Punjab pattern.
