MCI team inspects Nahan medical college

SOLAN: A three-member team of officials from the Medical Council of India (MCI) today visited the Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, to take stock of its facilities for setting up the fifth year MBBS classes.

A three-member team of officials from the Medical Council of India (MCI) today visited the Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, to take stock of its facilities for setting up the fifth year MBBS classes.

Officials of the MCI inspected various facilities in the college apart from infrastructure, faculty strength and also took stock of the laxities pointed out by it at the time of previous inspection. The strength of the new batch has been enhanced to 120 students from the earlier 100 as 20 students from the economically weaker sections have been added from this year.

The college was in the process of setting up facilities and it was trying to fulfill the required strength of senior residents. The task of construction of its new building has been entrusted to the CPWD. With a new principal assuming office on September 5, the process to seek various clearances like NOCs from the civic authorities, forest clearance, etc., was being pursued speedily, informed officials. Nahan district hospital had been upgraded to Dr YS Parmar Medical College in April 2016 by the then union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda. — TNS
