Solan, April 17

Dr Rajiv Saizal, Kasauli MLA and Minister for Health and Family Welfare, faced the backlash of the villages in Kasauli tehsil as locals raised “go back” slogans upon his arrival this afternoon.

Peeved at the arrest of two local youth of the Swaran Morcha in the Shimla stone pelting incident of March 16, the minister was shown black flags upon his arrival at Shaktighat village.

The minister was headed for Banjni village where he was the chief guest for the inauguration of a cricket tournament.

Mahinder Singh, mandal president, Swaran Morcha, said the residents boycotted the minister at Shaktighat as they too had been stopped at Shimla on March 16 during a protest by imposing section 144 of the CrPC.

The youth, protesting his presence, said he should not expect their support in the ensuing Assembly elections as the state government had failed to meet the demands of the morcha.

Youth raised slogans “Rajiv Saizal go back, go back” which forced the minister to alight from his vehicle and walk for some distance on foot. He failed to hold any talks with the agitating youth and headed for the tournament at Banjni village.

Doon MLA Paramjeet Singh faced similar protest at Mundroo village where he had gone for inaugurating a local fair. He was also greeted with black flags.—
