Solan, February 6

The Solan police have arrested a Sierra Leone resident, Steven Ansumana (30), from Kharar (Punjab) on Sunday for overstaying in the country after his visa expired on January 15.

Solan SP Gaurav Singh said he was produced before a local court here yesterday which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.

Deputy Registrar of Bahra University had complained that their BCA student Steven Ansumana, who was admitted in the session 2021-22, continued to stay in the country after expiry of his visa on January 15. A case under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act was registered in this regard at Kandaghat police station on January 31.

“Steven was directed to appear with a valid visa before the university authorities, but he failed to do so. He joined a Mohali-based company for internship,” stated the complaint.
