Mandi, June 24

Students of Government Degree College, Kullu, blocked road at Sarvari in Kullu district this evening in protest against the poor bus service.

Since the Banjar bus accident, the police have stepped up drive against overloading by private bus and taxi operators. As a result, students face difficulties reaching their destinations following limited buses on the route.

Similarly, there are reports from Banjar and Anni where students and locals are in trouble for want of buses.

College students sat on a dharna on the road at Sarvari, which led to traffic jam on both sides. Yuvraj and Ajay, college students, said they came from the Bijli Mahadev area but they had no means of transportation.

They said to keep a check on overloading of bus operators was a right decision but there was need to provide more buses to people. Till the filing of the report, the protest was going on and students were raising slogans against the government and local administration.
