Incessant rain in the past last two days resulted in swelling of water in the Swan tributaries in the district. Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said he toured various parts of the district to assess the damage to roads, buildings and other infrastructure.
Prajapati said some roads had been blocked due to debris falling from the hillside, which was cleared by PWD workers. He said in view of the rush of devotees during the Shravan Ashtami fair in Chintpurni, extra vigil was being kept on roads leading from Amb, Mubarikpur and Gagret to Chintpurni since most of the devotees entering the state took these routes to reach the shrine.
Meanwhile, the Public Works Department, in an press note issued here on Monday, said the state highways and village link roads in the district were blocked due to rain at 14 places, but the debris was removed and traffic was restored. The PWD Superintending Engineer reported a loss of Rs 3.17 crores to roads due to rain in the past two days.

DC Rakesh Prajapati said all schools in the district remained closed on Monday due to incessant rain. In a press note issued here, he said all educational institutions, including government and private schools, would resume their routine curriculum from Tuesday.
