Srinagar, February 7
In a targeted attack, terrorists shot dead a worker from Punjab while another sustained injuries here on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Amritpal Singh, 31, from Amritsar.

- In 2022, 9 migrant workers and a teacher were killed and at least 12 were injured in militant attacks
Rohit, 25, received bullet injuries and is undergoing treatment at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar. He also hails from Amritsar.
“Terrorists fired upon a non-local identified as Amritpal Singh, a resident of Amritsar at Shaheed Gunj Srinagar, who succumbed to the injuries. One more person has been grievously injured and admitted to a hospital. The area has been cordoned off,” a police spokesman said.
Soon after the incident, police officers, including Inspector General of Police Kashmir VK Birdi, rushed to the spot. The targeted attack on a non-local resident happened at a time when the government is claiming to have brought normalcy in the region.
The BJP was first to condemn the killing, terming it a cowardly and shameful act of terrorism. “It as a clear manifestation of terrorist frustration aimed at disrupting the peaceful environment and progress in Kashmir,” said senior BJP leader Manzoor Bhat.
