Phagwara: Even after more than five years, the Nakodar Sadar police have failed to make any breakthrough in the murder of an eight-year-old child at Mallian Kalan village. The child, Anwar Tariq, was found murdered on November 23, 2018, and his body was lying near a tree in a field. SHO Jai Pal said a case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC was registered. Further investigation was on in the case. OC
Man held with illicit liquor
Phagwara: The Mehat Pur police have arrested a person on the charge of selling illicit liquor. The suspect has been identified as Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Vehran village. Investigating officer Jaswinder Singh said nine bottles of hooch were seized from his possession. A case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Punjab Excise Act was registered against the suspect. He was later released on bail. OC
Two POs land in police net
Nakodar: The Nakodar City police have arrested a proclaimed offender. Investigating officer Rannjit Singh said the accused had been identified as Harminder Singh, alias Happy, a resident of Shankar. He was wanted in a case of drug peddling. Meanwhile, the Shahkot police arrested a proclaimed offender, Pardeep Singh, a resident of Badhanni Kalan village in Moga district. He was wanted in a case of cheating said IO Kashmir Singh. OC
Thieves flee with cash
Phagwara: Unidentified miscreants struck at a house in Hargobind Nagar, here, on Sunday evening. The suspects entered the house after breaking open the locks of the door. They took away cash and a bag containing documents. Santokh Singh, a former FCI officer, told the police that when he returned from evening walk, he found his room ransacked. The police have registered a case under Sections 454 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code and started investigations into the matter.
