Dr Bhupinder Pal Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, (ADC), Jalandhar, today advocated the need for apprising students of the importance of reading books for inculcating the habit in their tender minds to ensure that they excel in life.
Flagging off a book van of the National Book Trust (NBT) here at the District Administrative Complex, the ADC said these books to be offered to students at their doorsteps could be useful for transforming their destiny.
He said these books would be sold at the half rate, adding that the book van which had books on varied subjects, would tour schools of the district.
The ADC exhorted the students to aptly utilise the golden opportunity of getting quality books. He asked teachers to encourage the students to read books for enhancing knowledge. District Guidance Counsellor Surjit Lal and Director RUDSET Jagdish Kumar were also present on the occasion.
