Hoshiarpur, February 11
While inaugurating the Hoshiarpur Food Street, constructed at a cost of Rs 70 lakh, Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa said it was a unique gift for the people of Hoshiarpur, which has enhanced the beauty of the city.
Mayor Surinder Kumar, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jyoti Bala Mattu, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Choudhary and Punjab Gau Seva Commission member Jaspal Chechi were also present with him.
The minister said earlier there used to be a garbage dump near this food street in front of the old Civil Surgeon office, which he got removed on the basis of priority. He said the Municipal Corporation has left no stone unturned to make the food street here attractive and beautiful, under which beautiful lighting, tile work and other works have been done so that the people coming here could get a good environment.
He said the total number of stalls in the food street is 50 and separate vends have been set up for veg and non-veg categories.
Jimpa said the biggest advantage of the food street is that the vendors located at different places in the city have been collected at one place, due to which the traffic problem in the city has reduced considerably. He also instructed the food stall owners to maintain cleanliness and serve good quality food.
He said soon Hoshiarpur would be made dump free.
