Hoshiarpur, February 28

The Industries and Commerce Minister, Sunder Sham Arora, while reiterating the commitment of the state government to improve the standard of school education, lauded the efforts being made by government schoolteachers to mobilise community support for the mission.

The minister was here to preside over an annual prize distribution function at Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) (Boys), Ghanta Ghar Chowk, Hoshiarpur. Announcing Rs 5 lakh grant for the school, Arora said: “While the state Education Department has been playing the role of a catalyst, the teachers were putting efforts into design innovative modules, activities and teaching techniques to make the teaching-learning process easy, interesting and effective.”

The minister said e-content of various subjects and classes had been prepared and smart schools had been set up in the state to facilitate digital learning and prepare the students to face the challenges of the present-era of globalisation.

He also honoured schoolteachers and representatives of those NGOs who have made a commendable contribution towards converting the government school into smart school and also the students who excelled in academic, sports, science and co-curricular activities.

District Education Officer (Secondary) Mohan Singh Lehal, GSSS principal Ashwani Kumar Dutta, councillor Sunita Dua, Zila Shikhiya Sudhar team incharge Shailender Thakur, Deepak Vashishat, a teacher, were also present on the occasion.
