JAMMU: A man was injured as Pakistan on Saturday violated ceasefire on the Line of Control at Mankot area in Mendhar sector in Poonch district. The army retaliated.

Jammu, July 20

A man was injured as Pakistan on Saturday violated ceasefire on the LoC at Mankot area in Mendhar sector in Poonch district.

Hours before Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to the twin border districts in the plains of Jammu region, Pakistan started shelling on the LoC.

Zaffarullah Khan, naib sarpanch of Balnoi village, was injured in the shelling.

According to a defence spokesperson, Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing with small arms and shelling with mortars around 9 am. The army retaliated. The intermittent firing continued till 10.30 am.
