Militant killed, policeman injured in gunfight in Pulwama

A militant was killed and a policeman injured on Friday in a gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Police sources said the gun battle took place in Darganai Gund village of Tral area during a cordon and search operation.

The fighting began when the militants opened fire at the security forces including the Rashtriya Rifles, the special operations group (SOG) of the police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), a police officer said.

Authorities suspended mobile Internet services in the area to prevent the spread of rumours. — IANS
