The Department of Psychiatry of Dayanand College and Hospital organised a special session today to commemorate the World Suicide Prevention Day.
All residents and faculty members of the institution were invited to attend it.
It included three brief presentations by the senior and junior residents of the Department of psychiatry followed by a healthy discussion.
Suicide is a major public health concern which imposes a great social and economic burden on our society.
Even after the recent decriminalisation of suicide, people still are ashamed of talking about it.
Dr Ranjive Mahajan, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry, shared that one suicide occurs every 40 seconds.
