Three eateries caught fire at the Feroze Gandhi market in the wee hours on Saturday. Since the shops were lying closed, no loss of life or injury to any person was reported. However, all three shops were completely gutted in the fire.
As per information, the fire broke out at round 2 am after two LPG cylinders blasted in one of the shops. Someone after noticing the fire informed the fire brigade.
The fire brigade reached the spot immediately and started dousing the flames. It completely doused the fire within one hour.
Fire brigade officials said short circuit seems to be the cause of fire and later two LPG cylinder blasts escalated the fire.
Due to New Year celebrations, people were roaming there and they initially suspected that it was a bomb blast, but later fire officials confirmed that it was a LPG cylinder blast only.
The owners of offices in the adjoining buildings rushed to their offices for precautionary measures.
Fire Officer Maninder Singh said the fire brigade reached the spot within a few minutes of getting the call but they could not start the operation as electricity was not disconnected. It was only when electricity was disconnected by PSPCL that the fire men started dousing the flames.
