Ludhiana: Thieves targeted a temple and house in the city and decamped with cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees. The first theft incident took place at a gaushala temple in Jamalpur. Temple manager Kamal Sharma told the police that on September 7 night after closing the temple he had gone to sleep in his room. Next day when he came to open the temple, he found the locks of the temple’s main door broken. A cash box and silver ornaments of the idol of lord Krishna were missing. Another theft took place at a house in Upkar Nagar. House owner Gaurav Arora told the police that on August 12 he had locked his house and went to live at his another house in Rajguru Nagar. The next day he came to know that thieves had targeted his house. Arora said thieves after breaking open the locks of the almirah decamped with more than Rs 80,000, mobile phones, silver and gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. Investigation officer ASI Sukhdev Singh said a case of theft was registered against unknown persons on Wednesday and CCTV cameras of the area are being checked to get clues about the thieves. Meanwhile, a resident, Deepak Khurma, said on September 8 he had parked his motorcycle outside the New Courts. When he came back, his motorcycle was missing. Similarly, an Activa scooter of Davinder Singh was stolen from the tuition market, Model Town, on September 7. Another vehicle theft was reported at EWS Colony from where a motorcycle of Chandan Kumar was stolen from outside his house on September 7. TNS
