Covid cases are on the rise in the district, but people can still be seen thronging city markets and public places without following necessary precautions. A huge rush can be witnessed at public places, especially on weekends.

Sunday bazaars in the old city areas were full to the brim today. People were seen jostling with each other in a huge rush at the Chaura Bazaar.

People were seen roaming freely in the markets without any fear. Social distancing norms were being flouted with impunity. None of the shoppers was wearing a face mask, the essential protective gear against the Covid-19.

“I came here to buy clothes as I was going back home,” said a customer. Asked why he was not wearing a face mask as there was a huge rush in the bazaar, the customer said he was fully vaccinated and now there was no fear of Covid.

Manoj, who went to the Sunday bazaar at the Chaura Bazaar, said these days nobody was taking precautionary measures against coronavirus. “The virus is very much here and people need to be cautious,” he said.

Civil Surgeon Dr SP Singh said there was a slight increase in coronavirus cases and people need to remain vigilant.

He asked the people to adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour, including wearing of face mask, maintaining social distancing and hand hygiene.
