Nankana Sahib Public School

Ludhiana: Students of Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, excelled in various events organised by the Amritsar-based Dharam Parchar Committee near Pohir village in Ahmedgarh. Events included Dastar and Gurbani Kirtan competitions, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Sikh community. In the Dastar competition, Jasanpreet Singh and Karanpreet Singh of Class VIII secured the third and second positions, respectively. A special Dumala competition for girls was organised, and Simarpreet Kaur of Class VIII clinched the first position while Tanreet Kaur of Class III was third. Jasanpreet was awarded a Rs 1,100 while Karanpreet was awarded Rs 1,500 along with trophies. Simran of Class VIII and Komal of Class VII were acknowledged for their kavishri talent with cash prizes from the Gurdwara of Pohir Sahib. Japneet of Class VIII recited a poem and received a cash prize from the gurdwara committee.

Guru Nanak Public School

Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, organised an informative and interactive session on ‘Skill-based courses and career guidance’ for students of Class XII. The resource persons, Kritika and Divya from Cameron Career Consultants Private Limited, guided the students about various skill-based courses and career opportunities available oversees. They apprised the students of various streams, IELTS preparation, high-demand courses and occupations.

Jesus’ Sacred Heart School

Jesus’ Sacred Heart School, South City, organised a career fair and invited schools that are part of Hubs of Learning, urging students from classes IX to XII and their parents to engage with renowned university representatives. The event provided a unique opportunity for participants to interact directly with representatives from prestigious institutions such as Chandigarh University, Chitkara University, Amity, DAV University, Shoolini University, BML Munjal University, IDP, and OP Jindal Global University, American University of Antigua, SIEC, SIUK, and Gulzar Group of Institutes. The fair placed an emphasis on fostering educational journeys, offering a platform for students and parents to gain valuable insights and make informed decisions about their future. Those who attended the event got the chance to participate in sessions and workshops tailored to empower both students and their families.

Sat Paul Mittal School

With an aim of developing an entrepreneurial mindset in young children, the two-day Satyan Entrepreneurial Challenge was organised at Sat Paul Mittal School. The initiative aims to empower aspiring entrepreneurs and foster innovation in students of classes VIII and IX. The challenge is designed to provide a platform for potential entrepreneurs to showcase their novel ideas, develop business acumen, and receive mentorship from industry experts. It invites individuals and teams to submit their business proposals and solutions that address current challenges or bring fresh perspectives to existing problems. Armed with in-depth research, a total of 40 teams participated, validated and exhibited their projects to the ‘sharks’ in the jury.

BCM College of Education

The NSS wing of BCM College of Education performed a nukkad natak on the theme ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Meri Maati Mera Desh’ at village Khasi Kalan. The message ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ was delivered to the villagers through the nukkad natak. Slogans such as ‘plastic nu naa, zindagi nu haa’, ‘rukhan da satkaar karo, putran vaangu pyar karo’, ‘asi badlaange, jag badlega’, ‘plastic di varto ghatao, paani bachao’, ‘jal hai ta kal hai’ were raised during a rally organised by the students to motivate villagers to keep their surroundings clean. Programme coordinators Manjit Kaur and Shilpa Kaura managed the event.

SCD Government College

The Students’ Council of SCD Government College celebrated Lohri on January 19, organising a joyous and culturally vibrant event for students and faculty. The event was inaugurated by chief guest Ranjeet Sandhu, Xen PWD, and officially opened by principal Dr Tanvir Sachdev and Dr Sajla, Students’ Council convener. The cultural extravaganza featured a diverse range of performances, showcasing the rich heritage of India. Various dance forms, including traditional and contemporary ones, enthralled the audience, highlighting the talent and diversity in the student community. The event also featured modelling and bhangra performances. The function not only celebrated the auspicious festival but also served as a platform for students to express their creativity and cultural identity. The successful blending of tradition and modernity made the event a memorable and enriching experience for everyone.
