Man held with illegal weapon

Ludhiana: The CIA 2 wing of the city police has nabbed a man and recovered a .32 bore countrymade pistol along with two live cartridges. The suspect has been identified as Veerpal Singh of Jagraon. Investigation officer ASI Major Singh said during a routine patrolling near Gehlewal village, the suspect was stopped for checking during which an illegal weapon was seized from him. Mobile phones seized from jail

Ludhiana: Jail staff conducted a surprise checking in the Central Jail here and seized four mobile phones from four inmates. The inmates have been identified as Charanpreet Singh, Laddu Singh, Vijay Singh and Amarjit Singh. Jasvir Singh, assistant jail superintendent, said the cell phones were seized from the Barrack No. 5 where the inmates were lodged. A case has been registered. TNS

18-yr-old girl goes missing

Ludhiana: An 18-year-old girl went missing under mysterious circumstances in Mundian Kalan. Complainant Shyam Singh told the police that on July 18, his daughter Soma Yadav had gone to a local market, but did not return home. The police have launched a hunt to trace the girl after registering a case. TNS

Vehicle thief arrested

Ludhiana: The police Division No. 5 have nabbed Harjot of Himmat Singh Nagar and recovered 12 bikes and an Activa scooter from him. Probe was on to recover more vehicles and find his aides, the police said. TNS
