Man thrashed over old enmity, 10 booked

LUDHIANA: The Daba police have booked 10 persons, including a woman, on the charges of kidnapping and thrashing a man over old enmity.

The Daba police have booked 10 persons, including a woman, on the charges of kidnapping and thrashing a man over old enmity.

The suspects have been identified as Harpreet Singh, alias Beetu, of Gurbachan Colony; Jagroop Singh of Daba, Arjun Kumar of Ladowal, Sunil Kumar of Daba, Nanno of Daba, Kaka Ram of Ladowal, Jassa of Daba, Baljinder Kumar of Ladowal, Bhupinder Singh of Dhilon Nagar and Manna Mental of Daba.

The police have arrested Bhupinder, Baljinder, Kaka Ram and Arjun Kumar.

The complainant, Dalip Kumar said on December 13, he, along with his mother Indu Devi, was going to pay the loan instalment of his motorcycle when Harpreet and Jagroop cornered him. They forced him to accompany him on their bike. When his mother intervened, she was pushed off by Harpreet and Jagroop. In the meantime, two more persons reached there and they forcibly took him to a vacant plot near Tobba Chowk.

“They pushed me into a car parked in the plot in which Bhupinder, Baljinder, Arjun and others were already sitting. They took me to Sunil Kumar’s house at Gurbachan Colony. They attacked me with baseball bats, swords and iron rods. They pulled me out in the street and thrashed me in full public view. They also shot a video of the incident. When my mother reached there, the suspects fled the scene,” said the victim.

Satwinder Singh, ASI, said four suspects had been nabbed and raids were on to arrest the others.
