LUDHIANA: The Sadar police claimed to have solved the day-old murder mystery in which a 17-year-old boy Mahant of Thakarwal village was strangled to death by some unidentified person at a motor room in the fields of Thakarwal village.

The Sadar police claimed to have solved the day-old murder mystery in which a 17-year-old boy Mahant of Thakarwal village was strangled to death by some unidentified person at a motor room in the fields of Thakarwal village.

The boy was killed on Saturday afternoon, but the incident came to fore late night, when his friends went to the motor room, where he used to stay, and found him dead.

The accused nabbed in the case had killed the boy allegedly after sodomising him. He was afraid that the victim could approach the police if left alive. ADCP Surendra Lamba, ACP Ramandeep Singh Bhullar and SHO Sadar Sukhdev Singh conducted a press conference on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Paramjit Singh (25) of Thakarwal.

ADCP Lamba said the accused was a convict in a 2015 sodomy case registered against him at Sangrur. He was convicted for 10 years by the court for sodomising a minor boy. Recently, the accused had come out on a 42 days’ parole and the parole period was still pending.

The police said both accused and the deceased were known to each other and were natives of Bihar. For the past three days, the accused had been visiting the motor room of the minor boy.

The accused again went to his room on Saturday afternoon. He forcibly sodomised the boy and when the victimprotested and threatened to inform the police, he strangled him with a bed sheet.

“After sodomising the boy, the accused feared that the victim will approach the police, due to which he decided to eliminate him. He took a bed sheet and strangled him to death. Since some villagers had seen the accused visiting the motor room, they informed the police. When the accused was rounded up, he confessed to having killed the boy,” the ADCP revealed.
