The Khanna district police have nabbed two drug peddlers involved in distribution of poppy husk and other narcotics after smuggling contraband from neighbouring states.
As much as 142 kg of poppy husk and two vehicles used in the crime were seized from the accused, identified as Tirath Singh of Sihar village and Ramjan Mohammad of Shahpur village in the Payal circle.
The SSP, Khanna, Elanchezhian, said the police had nabbed the accused when they were trying to leave the area in separate vehicles.
In the first case, cops led by the SHO, Malaudh, Gurdeep Singh, and Tarsem Kumar intercepted a Swift Dzire Car (bearing registration No. HR 51 AF 60150). On search of the vehicle two plastic bags containing 90 kg of poppy husk was recovered.
In the second case a police team led by the SHO, Payal, Mukhtiar Singh, arrested Ramjan Mohammad at a naka near Shahpur bus stand when he was trying to leave the area in his car (bearing registration No. PB 10 AM 9895). On search of the vehicle two bags containing 26 kg of poppy husk each were recovered by the police.
