Ludhiana: Three motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a wallet having Rs 1,200, driving licence, Aadhar card, pan card and other documents from a villager, Satnam Singh. The snatchers also took away his mobile phone. A resident of village Jharodi, under the Machhiwara police station, Satanam Singh said he was returning home on Thursday evening on his motorcycle and as he reached near Partapgarh on the Machhiwara-Kohara road, three persons, riding a motorcycle, came from behind and hit him in the head with an iron road. The police have registered a case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC. OC

theft bid: Waste collector booked

Ludhiana: The police have booked a man, Kailash Kumar Pandey, resident of Mayapuri on Tibba Road, and his unknown accomplices under Sections 380 and 120-B of the IPC for a failed attempt of theft in a garment factory, Space Fashions Limited, at Focal Point, Phase VI, here. Owner of the factory Kishore Kumar, resident of Rajguru Nagar, said in a complaint to the police that Kailash, along with his labour, was engaged in lifting waste material from the factory. He said on a suspicion that Kailash was also taking away new fabric and pieces of garments by stuffing these in plastic bags used to carry waste, he sought to inspect the waste loaded in his mini truck Tata 407 (PB-10AR-9258). Kailash fled from the scene along with his accomplices, leaving the mini truck behind. OC

House burgled

Ludhiana: A house at Butahari village was burgled. In a complaint to the police, house owner Jaswant Kaur said she had gone to Delhi to spend some time with her son in November last year. “A few days back, a neighbour called me on phone to tell that the lock of the main gate of the house had been broken open. When I reached back, I found that thieves had taken away Rs 5.70 lakh and gold and silver jewellery from a locked cupboard,” she told the police. A case has been registered. OC
