Youth dies of ‘drug overdose’, 4 friends booked

Ludhiana, February 24

The Koom Kalan police yesterday registered a case against four persons after a youth suspected to be died of drug overdose in Meharban. Three suspects were also arrested by the police in this regard.

The suspects have been identified as Harman Grewal and Navdeep Singh of Machhiwara, Gurpreet Singh Gandhi of Manewal village and Dilpreet Singh of Machhiwara.

Complainant Ranjodh Singh of Rattipur, Khanna, said his son Jaspreet Singh Jassi was a drug addict. On February 2, 2024, the suspects, who were his son’s friends, came home and took the victim along with them in a car. They had taken him to the Sutlej banks for consuming drugs together. The suspects had given an overdose of injection to his son due to which he died, adding that he lodged a complaint following which a case was registered on Friday.

ASI Randhir Singh said the fourth suspect, Dilpreet, was yet to be nabbed.
