UP’s education panel website hacked

Prayagraj: The website of UP Higher Education Service Commission was hacked on Tuesday with the hackers replacing the last name “Allahabadi” of some renowned poets with “Praygaraj” in an “apparent resentment” of the change of the name this historical city, an official said. The Prayagraj-based Commission, however, was able to restore its Hindi website and the work is on to restore its English portal. PTI

Dr Pavri, NIV’s first woman director, dies

Pune: Dr Khorshed M Pavri, ex-director of Pune-based National Institute of Virology (NIV) died in Mumbai on Monday. She was 94 and was NIV’s first woman director (1978-88). “She was a virologist par excellence and her core areas of interest included viruses that cause hepatic and enteric infections. She made significant contributions to understanding of transmission of Hepatitis A, B, and E viruses and identification of enteric viruses that caused fatal gastroenteritis among kids,” said the release.
