Karnataka boy bags award for innovation in farm sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today struck impersonal conversations with 32 winners of the National Children’s Awards 2021 and asked them to strive on, rather than rest on, past laurels.

In an hour-long virtual engagement with the children awarded for bravery, art and innovation, the PM urged them to take three pledges— humility in success, consistency in action and working with national good in mind.

Insisting on modernisation of agriculture, the PM hailed Karnataka’s Rakesh Krishna for a farm sector innovation that has helped reduce farming time and enhance profitability.

Modi began by engaging Maharashtra’s Kamya Kartikeya, an avid mountaineer, currently practising in Jammu and Kashmir for her June challenge to scale Mt Denali, the highest mountain in North America.

A curious PM also asked Rakesh Krishna if any industry had offered to scale up his farm innovation prototype. “I am working to better it,” Krishna said. Among other awardees the PM engaged were Jharkhand’s archer Savita Kumari; Manipur’s artist Navish Kisham; UP’s Mohd Shadab and Gujarat’s swimmer Mantra Hakhani.
